Piller’s Receives Funding for New Automated Line
Brantford food processing plant Piller’s Fine Foods is getting a $200,000 grant for automated packing equipment from the Canadian Agricultural Partnership. A total of 75 projects across Ontario received grants in the latest round.
The Canadian Agricultural Partnership is a five-year federal-provincial-territorial initiative to strengthen the agriculture, agri-food, and agri-based products sector and increase its competitiveness, prosperity and sustainability.
The food and agri-food industry is a huge driver of the Ontario economy worth $47.5 billion a year and supporting 837,000 jobs. In Brantford, food and beverage manufacturing is a key economic sector, employing over 2,300 people and operating in facilities totaling in excess of 2.7 million square feet throughout the City.
Piller’s Fine Foods is receiving $200,000.00 to purchase and install new advanced automated packaging system to improve labour productivity, increase production output and enhance operational efficiency.
