Yesterday our team visited HOPA Ports (Hamilton-Oshawa Port Authority), the growing and entrepreneurial organization managing vital portlands in Hamilton, Oshawa, Welland, and Port Colborne. These lands and the businesses that operate on them represent important links in trade routes for many industrial sectors. From fuel to food ingredients to steel to cargo containers, vital goods and commodities pass through HOPA every day.
 
Learning about and partnering with key trade focused entities like HOPA will be increasingly important for our community and our businesses. For example, with CBSA approval for a new inland rail transload terminal for containers in Hamilton, businesses can realize significant time and cost savings in moving containers, whether importing or exporting. Even without a port of our own in Brantford, our close proximity to HOPA opens doors for businesses to trade with the world.
